Discussion Board Forum 1 Thread: Introduction
Greetings class my name is T P I am a single 27 years old, and I am very excited to be starting this new journey with each of you. I work for the government in Human Resources located in Fort Riley, Kansas and I was blessed to complete my Masters Degree in Human Resources January 2014. I stated that I was finished with school, and here I am again seeking another degree.
It has been my desire for some time now to be a Christian Marriage & Family Therapist or a Life Coach and I’m looking forward to learning all I can to make my dream a reality with the help of the Lord. There are people in the world that are hurting and going through especially in the Christian community. Many Christians may believe that counseling is for people who are fanatical, because I thought that at one time, but that’s not factual. Millions of Christian marriages & families are falling apart daily, and millions of Christian’s needs deliverance and someone to speak to especially our young women and I want to help and inspire them.

Counseling meets all the ethics for a profession and has done so for a significant period of time. It is unique from, as well as connected with, other mental health disciplines by both its emphases and at times its history. Counseling’s focus on development, prevention, wellness, and treatment makes it attractive to those seeking healthy life-stage transitions and productive lives. The primary purpose of the human services professional is to assist individual and communities to function as effectively as possible in the major domains of living. A strong desire to help others is an important consideration for a job as a human services worker. Individuals who show patience, understanding, and caring in their dealings with others are highly valued by employers. Other important personal traits include communication skills, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to manage time effectively. The mission of human services is to promote a practice that involves simultaneously working at all levels of society (whole-person approach) in the process of promoting the autonomy of individuals or groups, making informal or formal human services systems more efficient and effective, and advocating for positive social change within society.
The most important historical event in the history of the human services profession was in 2010 The Affordable Care Act was signed into law, putting in place U.S. health insurance reforms. Many low-to-middle income Americans and small businesses had trouble-affording healthcare for themselves and their families. If you were sick in the past you could be denied health coverage or treatment with little right to an appeal. The Affordable Care Act comprises supplies that solve all of these problems and would help those citizens who need it the greatest.
