NURS 6241: STRATEGIC PLANNING IN HEALTH CARE ORGANIZATIONS

This is the second part to the first question I posted. ( Below is the information for the proposed change)

Creating a balanced scorecard for the new stroke nurse position is critical. The balanced scorecard will track improvements to the quality of patient outcomes and financial outcomes (Jeffs, Merkley, Richardson, Eli, & McAllister, 2011). With the balanced scorecard allows for leadership to see where and how to grow the new stroke nurse position.

Collecting data is how you can justify if the new change is working “Create a Balanced Scorecard of Robust Measures, Meaningful Targets, and Strategic Initiatives,” 2014). Data collection is mandated by the joint commission to maintain comprehensive stroke certification. The stroke nurse will collect and monitor patients progress during admission and give follow-up calls around up to 90 days after discharge from the hospital. This will allow for leadership to see an improvement in the outcome of stroke patients. After six months the collected data from before stroke nurse and after stroke nurse can be compared. The hospital is expected to have an increase in a stroke patient with the new comprehensive stroke certification. This will create an increase in revenue which will help offset the cost of the stroke nurse program.

Section 4: Budgeting and Timeline Tools

As you have been examining this week, budgeting and timeline tools are vital for determining necessary resources and planning for a proposed change. For your Course Project, you use these types of tools to assess resources that may be required for the successful implementation of your strategic plan.

To prepare:

  • Review the information on budgeting in this week’s Learning Resources. Which tools (e.g., Revenue Projection Model, Capital Budgeting Analysis, Depreciation Calculator, Profit and Loss Projection) would be most useful for developing your strategic plan?
  • Use one or more budgeting tools to outline the financial resources for your proposed change. Reflect on any challenges that arise as you evaluate the financial resources required for this change now and in the future.
  • Review the information on PERT and other timeline tools in this week’s Learning Resources, including Dr. Huston’s presentation in the media program.
  • Use PERT or another tool to analyze and represent the activities that need to be completed to successfully plan and implement your proposed change. Be sure to note dependencies (e.g., a task/milestone that must be completed in order to trigger the next step) and realistically assess the minimum time needed to complete the entire project.

To complete:

  • Outline the financial resources for your proposed change. Describe the budgeting tool(s) you used to arrive at these determinations. Explain what challenges, if any, you encountered through the budgeting process. Provide documentation (e.g., Excel worksheets) to support your analysis.
  • Outline the timeline for the implementation of your proposed change using PERT or another timeline tool. Consider how your timeline can allow leeway for variance.

By Day 7

Submit:

  • Section 3: Balanced Scorecard
  • Section 4: Budgeting and Timeline Tools (which includes an outline of financial resources and a timeline)

Write 2 pages thesis on the topic advantages and disadvantages of office automation and groupwares.

Write 2 pages thesis on the topic advantages and disadvantages of office automation and groupwares. Advantages and Disadvantages of Office Automation and Groupwares It can never be denied how technology makes life a lot better for the people. No wonder that works in all aspect of life gets to be done easier and faster. In terms of business and commerce, Office Automation and Group Collaboration are pioneers in making companies more competitive.

Office Automation is the integration of office information functions, including word processing, data processing, graphics, desktop publishing and e-mail. Using a Local Area Network (LAN), it allows users to do multi-office functions like dictation, typing, filing, copying, fax, Telex, microfilm and records management, telephone and telephone switchboard operations. With this type of technology, the different users within the local network can simultaneously do the above functions. The greatest contribution of this technology is that it eliminates repetitive task and makes longhand jobs a push-button one. For example, when selling a product, the user needs not to type both the product’s name and the price every time there are transactions. What the user only got to do is to press the code and everything pops in. One most commonly used application is Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.

The Group Collaboration Software (Groupware), however, are single piece of software acting as a facilitator for several users who inputs information in it. This serves as a common storage for different files coming from different users. With this software, one can easily access to different information sent by different users within the local network. He can then check if he’s still on the right track finding related information to others making them a collaborative team. As a simple illustration of how this works, let’s just say we are five in a team. Our boss would like us to research on a certain topic and come up with a conclusion. All of us would try to divide the topic into subtopics then do individual research. We are going to input our researches on a logbook to file it up. This then would be the function of the groupware. One most popularly known groupware is the Microsoft Outlook. Video conferencing is also allowed in this kind of software.

But as wise-thinkers, we must always see the pros and cons of every technological products coming out. Nothing will always be perfect. Everything has its disadvantages. The Office Automation software cannot be used without the main server. If the main server is closed, then nobody can access the program. Also, if there will have a problem with one of the system, the functions of all other systems will get affected. Other’s functioning units might have problem running the program. Another is that with the use of Office 2000, Windows XP, and Office 2003 will make the application run slow because of the Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) they use. The MSI would require the users to approve the installation of the software and of course, this needs an installation disk. Considerations with regards to licensing will also be considered. Lastly, like any other programs, the Office Automation is susceptible to viruses. Careful downloads of anonymous file from the net must always be guarded.

There are also some considerations for the Groupware. Because it allows people to interact using the computers, it then follows that people lose their face-to-face interactions. They are not able to witness facial expressions and body languages. They cannot hear the tone of how the words are said. Therefore, truth value are also lessened. And because it keeps tracks to teams’ collaboration, it limits individual ideas. In terms of features, it can have very narrow range of capabilities or too complex capabilities that are too cumbersome to understand. There can be mistakes in usage by inexperienced users. Lack of privacy is also a concern. Same with Office Automation, its implementation might cost a lot of money and can only be used by computer literates.

Corporations to be better competitors must always have improvements within the organization. The help of these modern technologies, there’s no way for us not to be more competitive, progressive and reach the pedestal. It just a matter of how we’re going to use them properly because like any other asset, it can either make us, or the other way around, break us.

You will prepare and submit a term paper on The Most Influential Theories of Crime Causation. Your paper should be a minimum of 2000 words in length.

You will prepare and submit a term paper on The Most Influential Theories of Crime Causation. Your paper should be a minimum of 2000 words in length. Criminological theory not only refers to explanations of criminal behavior but also to explanations of police behavior and the behavior of attorneys, prosecutors, judges, correctional personnel, victims and other actors in the criminal justice system. After completing graduate studies he was employed at the University of Minnesota between 1926 and 1929 and solidified his reputation as one of the country’s leading criminologists. During this period, his focus was on Sociology as a scientific enterprise whose goal was the understanding and control of social problems, including crime (Gaylord, 1988:13). Later he moved to Indiana University and became the founder of the Bloomington school of Criminology at Indiana University. During that time, he published 3 books, including Twenty Thousand Homeless Men (1936), The Professional Thief (1937), and the third edition of Principles of Criminology (1939). In 1939 he was elected president of the American Sociological Society, and in 1940 was elected president of the Sociological Research Association. According to him, “Criminology is the body of knowledge regarding delinquency and crime as a social phenomenon. It includes within its scope the process of making laws, breaking laws, and of reacting toward the breaking of laws. These processes are three aspects of a somewhat unified sequence of interactions. The objective of Criminology is the development of a body of general and verified and principles and of other types of knowledge regarding this process of law, crime, and reaction to crime.” (1974: 3) He was the first twentieth-century criminologist to forcefully argue that criminal behavior was learned. His theory of differential association, developed in 1934 and 1947, was that persons who become criminal do so because of contacts with criminal patterns and isolations from non-criminal patterns. Differential association theory was Sutherland’s major sociological contribution to Criminology. similar in importance to strain theory and social control theory. These theories all explain deviance in terms of the individual’s social relationships. Sutherland’s theory departs from the pathological perspective and biological perspective by attributing the cause of crime to the social context of individuals. “He rejected biological determinism and the extreme individualism of psychiatry, as well as economic explanations of crime. His search for an alternative understanding of crime led to the development of differential association theory. In contrast to both classical and biological theories, differential association theory poses no obvious threats to the humane treatment of those identified as criminals.” (Gaylord, 1988:1) Sutherland argued that the concept of differential association and differential social organization could be applied to the individual level and to aggregation (or group) level respectively. The first explicit statement of the theory of differential association appears in the 1939 edition of Principles of Criminology and in the fourth edition of it, he presented his final theory.

Your assignment is to prepare and submit a paper on marketing skills. It is also concerned with anticipating the customers’ future needs and wants, often through market research.”

These are the main key factors on which one should concentrate and thus opening the new doors of success in the field of marketing and in this field one should be adaptive to innovations and able to grasp the marketing trends and finally understanding the graph of success & failure of the best applied method.

“Advertising is a one-way communication whose purpose is to inform potential customers about products and services and how to obtain them. Every major medium is used to deliver these messages, including: television, radio, movies, magazines, newspapers, video games, the Internet and billboards.” But before choosing the advertising media one should concentrate on the following questions and try to answer these questions – What target markets I am trying to reach with my ads What would I like them to think and perceive about my products (this should be in terms of benefits to them, not you) What communications media do they see or prefer the most Consider TV, radio, newsletters, classifieds, displays/signs, posters, word of mouth, press releases, direct mail, special events, brochures, neighborhood newsletters, etc. What media is most practical for me to use in terms of access and affordability (the amount spent on advertising is often based on the revenue expected from the product or service, that is, the sales forecast) Lastly, successful advertising depends very much on knowing the preferred methods and styles of communications of the target markets that you want to reach with your ads. A media plan and calendar can be very useful, which specifies what advertising methods are used and when.

“Effective copywriting (also known as business writing) is any writing that sells a product, a service, or even a person. The radio commercial you hear on your way to work is an example of copywriting. The sales letters and advertisements you receive in the mail are examples as well. Even the billboards you see on the highway are examples of copywriting. In other words it means the effective use of words to communicate a sales message. The objective of is to generate leads which are in turn converted to sales. It’s only a way, how much footage a person can earn for his products through his ads or the way he presents it to the whole world i.e. attracting customers with the help of words within fractions of seconds.”

Some strategies are: – 1) Use attention grabbing text to keep users in the site.

Biology Paper

  1. Assignment 1: Biotechnology Article
Due Week 3 and worth 80 points

Assignment 1 is the first phase of a project that you will complete, in stages, during the term. You will begin by selecting a specific biotechnology that you would like to cover through the entire project. It can be an established technology, such as genetically-modified crops, or an emerging technology, such as CRISPR. The choice of biotechnology is up to you, but consider selecting something that relates to your major, career, or personal interests.
CRJ students might consider an established or an emerging biotechnology for crime scene investigation. BUS students might consider a technology that will provide an opportunity to explore bringing new biotech products and services to market or the ethical considerations around marketing biotech to consumers.

Choose one magazine or newspaper article that covers the specific technology that you will use throughout the project. It must be a recent article (no more than four years old). For instance, if you choose genetically-modified crops as your biotechnology, then you would need to select one recent article about genetically-modified crops for this assignment.
Some biotechnologies that you may want to consider include:

    • Genetically modified crop plants
    • Genetically modified microorganisms (such as yeasts and bacteria for industry)
    • Genetically modified animals
    • Personal genomics for humans (also called personalized medicine or precision medicine)
    • Gene therapy
    • CRISPR
    • Emerging forensic uses of DNA (such as facial prediction)
    • Databases for DNA fingerprinting
    • Write a one to two (1–2) page paper in which you:
    1. Summarize the article in one (1) or more paragraphs, using your own words. Be sure to identify the article using an in-text citation in the body of the paper, as well as a reference in the reference section.
    2. Identify which biological concepts from the course and / or text are relevant to the topic covered in the article. Citing the course text, discuss the ways in which this course does (or doesn’t) provide background information to help you understand the article and the larger issues surrounding it.
    3. Explain why the article caught your attention. Relate the article to your life and to issues that are important to you.Discuss how or if the scientific knowledge about the topic covered in the article affects you directly or indirectly.
    4. Discuss your opinion on how research on this topic should befunded. State whether you think taxpayer monies should support research on this topic or whether such research in this area should be funded by the private sector. Rate the importance of research on this topic, relative to other areas of research.
    5. In addition to the target article, you should use at least one (1) additional resource, such as your textbook or another article.  Remember: an edited version of this assignment is going to be part of the larger paper that you write at the completion of the project.

You must have a reference section which contains an SWS reference to your chosen article and all other sources, if any. Additionally, you must provide in-text citations (in SWS format) to your references at appropriate places in the body of the text. Integrate all sources into your paper using proper techniques of quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing, along with your in-text citations. Double-space your paper. Use standard margins and fonts. Also, follow any additional formatting instructions provided by your instructor.

A large portion of the grading of this assignment is based upon the coherence, depth, and accuracy of your writing.

      Objectives evaluated by this assessment:

    6. Categorize a wide range of organisms, from single-celled to multi-celled organisms.
    7. Describe how organisms acquire and utilize both energy and material.
    8. Describe the cell cycle, cell reproduction, and control.
    9. Investigate DNA and gene expression as well as technologies based on our understanding of them.
    10. Discuss interactions between organisms in ecosystems.
  2. By submitting this paper, you agree: (1) that you are submitting your paper to be used and stored as part of the SafeAssign™ services in accordance with the Blackboard Privacy Policy; (2) that your institution may use your paper in accordance with your institution’s policies; and (3) that your use of SafeAssign will be without recourse against Blackboard Inc. and its affiliates.
